Apply for a discount or reduction

Apply for a reduction to help you pay some of your Council Tax if you are on a low income or claiming certain benefits.

If you’re the only adult over 18 living in a property, you may be able to get a discount of up to 25% on your bill.

If you or someone you live with is disabled, you might be able to get a discount on your Council Tax.

If you or someone you live with is severely mentally impaired, you may be able to apply for a discount.

You might be able to get a Council Tax discount if you care for someone.

If you're a full-time student or apprentice, you may be able to get a discount or be exempt from paying Council Tax.

If you’re between 18 and 20 years old, you may be able to get a discount on your Council Tax.

We support Kingston Care Leavers who live alone by offering a 100% discount on Council Tax they pay, until the day before their 25th birthday.

If you are a Ukrainian national with a Homes for Ukraine visa you may be entitled to a Council Tax discount.

You may be exempt from paying Council Tax if you are a member of a religious community, for example, a nun or a monk.

If your home has an annexe, the annexe may qualify for a Council Tax discount.

If the person you live with is in prison by law, or hospital due to a court order, you may be able to get a discount.
