Prisoners and people detained by law
If the person you live with is in prison by law, or hospital due to a court order, you may be able to get a discount.
You may be able to get a discount or exemption if a person who normally lives at your address is:
- on remand or in prison
- held on mental health grounds as a result of a court order
- under immigration law
How to apply
Use our general enquiries form to apply by telling us:
- your council tax account number
- the address where you wish to claim the discount
- details about the detained person
- prison number (if applicable)
- the date they were held
- expected release date (if known)
