About the Borough

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is a borough in southwest London. It includes the main town of Kingston and local centres including Surbiton, Chessington, Malden Rushett, New Malden, Old Malden and Tolworth.

  • A growing population, increasing by 5% over 10 years, with 19% growth in those aged over 65.
  • Area of approximately 37km2
  • The oldest of the four royal boroughs in England, where the coronation of the first kings of all England - including the first, King Athelstan in 925 - took place.
