There are several stages in the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) process. Find out if a development proposal is liable using our online guides.
Once we have received your Commencement Notice, and if payment is due, we will issue what is known as a demand notice (similar to an Invoice for payment).

Once you have made a payment, then it can take several working days for this to be brought to our attention. However, once we have located this payment, we will generate a payment acknowledgement or receipt and send this to you for your records. If fully settled, we will also remove the CIL charge from the Local Land Charges Register.
If you have made a payment and have not received an acknowledgement within 21 days, then you can email us.
It is very important that you contact us if you consider that you cannot or will not be able to fulfil a CIL payment, so we can discuss potential repayment options.
