Tell us what you think of the website
Welcome to your brand new Council website. This is a beta version, not yet live to residents. We'd love to know what you think.
Apply to join the Housing register, find out who is eligible to join, make a change to an existing application, and find out what to expect after you apply.
You’ll be on the Housing Register for properties with a certain number of bedrooms. We work this out using our allocation rules and any specific need you or your family have.
Some people in your family will normally be expected to share a bedroom:
Single person
Studio or small one bedroom flat
Single person, a couple or a family with a baby under 12 months
One bedroom property. Couple may be given preference over single people
Family with one child or two children under 10
Two bedroom property
Family with 2 children of the same sex
Two bedroom property
Families with more than 2 children
A property with 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms depending on the number, age and gender of the children
All households on the Housing Register are given a mobility category from one to four, based on their physical needs.
This makes it simpler for you to search for suitable properties if anyone you live with can’t use stairs or uses a wheelchair. All property descriptions will clearly state the mobility category.
Category 1 - property is suitable for a full time wheelchair user
Category 2 - property is accessible to a wheelchair but not adapted inside
Category 3 - property is on the ground floor or there is a lift with level access
Category 4 - no special requirements
