Tell us what you think of the website
Welcome to your brand new Council website. This is a beta version, not yet live to residents. We'd love to know what you think.
If you are a council tenant or leaseholder you must seek consent before carrying out major improvements. Find out how to apply for permission.
You need to get permission from us to improve your home before getting any other permissions or entering into agreements with contractors. You can apply by email. We will then consider your application and let you know whether we will give you permission, any conditions attached to that permission and any other permissions that you will need.
Your estate manager will either let you know in writing if we’ve agreed in principle to the improvements or arrange for a visit by one of our surveyors.
We aim to make an initial decision and give you the advice to proceed within 10 days of receiving your application.
If we don’t agree to an improvement, we will tell you why. If you go ahead with the works without permission you may have to reinstate your property to its original condition or we may charge you if we have to do it ourselves.
Your rent won’t increase as a result of any improvements you make to your home, while you or anyone who succeeds you lives there.
If you make improvements to your home and then end your tenancy or move, you may be entitled to compensation or you may be expected to reinstate your property to its original condition.
