Statement on Kingston Cemetery
Kingston Cemetery has now reopened. It was closed by Kingston Police on 12 May to investigate an incident.
A member of the public was taken to hospital after drinking from a bottle they found in the locality that caused them serious harm.
An alert was sent out to local schools through the Kingston Safer Schools network asking them to consider reminding pupils not to drink from any container, particularly in this hot weather, unless it comes from a trusted source or they bought it themselves. There is no specific information that children from Kingston schools are at any increased risk. This message was sent as a sensible precaution.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
The cemetery is now open to the public as normal.
