Insurance
We arrange appropriate insurance cover for our assets and for potential legal liabilities as a local authority, including community and voluntary aided schools. This is achieved by a combination of external insurance cover and an internal insurance fund.
Our main external insurer is Protector Insurance. Protector Insurance is very experienced in dealing with local authorities and their insurance policies.
We also employ the service of an insurance broker for independent advice on insurance matters.

Claims portal information
If you are a third party solicitor enquiring about a portal ID, note the following.
For all claims occuring:
- on or after 1 April 2017 please use our portal ID C00623.
- before this date, our liability claims handlers are Zurich Municipal. Please use portal ID C00108 and quote the policy number 01E220.

For us to accept your application you cannot be in arrears. To make sure that you are always covered you must keep up to date with your payments. We can cancel the policy if your premium payments fall into arrears and you will not be able to make a claim unless your payments are up to date.
