Hate crime community pledge

Kingston Council and the Anti-Hate Crime Action Group have developed a community pledge which aims to send clear and consistent messages that hate will not be tolerated in our borough and Kingston is a safe place to live, work, study and visit.

We recognise that we all have a role to play in tackling hate and discrimination.

We pledge together to:

  • establish mutual respect and collaboration through our services, partnerships and forums.
  • implement policies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion and challenge all forms of discrimination within our borough and workplaces.
  • work alongside the Anti-Hate Crime Action Group to tackle hate crimes and incidents in the borough and ensure victims receive a high-quality service.
  • monitor hate crime data within the borough through the Anti-Hate Crime Action Group.
  • ensure our communities understand what hate crime is, how to safely report an incident and seek advice and support. We will do this through training opportunities and regular communications.
  • undertake activities that promote this community pledge.
  • provide our organisation’s logo to appear alongside this pledge on the Kingston Council website and relevant materials.
