How to report a crime
If you witness a crime, safety should be your priority. Never do anything which could put you or somebody else in more danger. Find out how to report a crime and where to get support if you’ve been affected by crime.
Emergency
Always dial 999 in an emergency; such as when a crime is in progress, someone suspected of a crime is nearby, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened. When you dial 999, the operator assistance centre will be able to provide assistance from the police, London Fire Brigade and ambulances to the scene.
Police in non-emergency situations
If it is not an emergency but you need Police assistance, please call 101 or report to Police online. You can also contact your Police Safer Neighbourhood team if you have concerns about something in your local area.
CrimeStoppers: report a crime anonymously
If you want to report a crime, but wish to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111 or report via the Crimestoppers website.
Victim Support
If you’ve been affected by crime and would like information or support,call The London Victim and Witness Service (LVWS) on 0808 168 9291. Lines are open 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday.
If you need support outside these hours, you can call our Supportline on 08 08 16 89 111 for free.
