Find out about specialist care homes or supported living homes for people with a learning disability.
Types of places you can live
There are different types of places you can live as someone with a learning disability, like:
- renting either alone or with friends or family
- Shared Lives matches you with someone who can give you support
- supported living, meaning you live in your own home with support from staff
- residential care, where you live somewhere you can get support with personal care and daily tasks
- nursing care, where you have more help with your personal care and medical needs
Help to find somewhere to live
If you need help finding the right place to live, you can have an assessment with our social care team. We can give you advice and, if you’re eligible, we can help you access the right type of supported living for what you need.
Who we can help
For our team to help you find somewhere to live, you need to:
- be eligible for funded care
- need help to live independently
We will decide whether you are eligible for funded care based on a care needs assessment. Find out more about eligibility for funded care
We can only help you to find the right place to live - we cannot help your family move with you.
