Local Community Groups can nominate a building or other land to be listed if the principal use of the asset furthers the community's social wellbeing or social interests.

Social interests include:

• cultural interests - for example, libraries and museums
• recreational interests - for example, pubs and social clubs
• sporting interests - for example, leisure centres and swimming pools
