Tell us what you think of the website
Welcome to your brand new Council website. This is a beta version, not yet live to residents. We'd love to know what you think.
Find out what you can bring to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre and how to book a visit using your car or van’s registration number.
You can take recyclable and non-recyclable household waste to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre if you’re a Kingston resident.
If you’re visiting in a car or van, you must book a slot to visit the tip.
Book a slot using your car’s registration number. You can visit up to 20 times a year.
Book a slot using your van’s registration number. You can visit up to 12 times a year.
We will accept bookings for vans including:
If you’re walking or cycling, you can only visit the centre on Saturdays and Sundays from 3.15pm to 4pm.
You do not need to book and you can visit as many times a year as you want.
We limit how many times residents can visit the recycling centre each year. This helps us make sure that people are not illegally disposing of commercial waste.
If you’re getting close to your limit and need to request more visits, you can apply for an exemption.
All items must be from your own home or garden. Make sure you sort items before you arrive to make your visit quicker and easier.
Bring items in good condition and donate them for reuse, including:
There are separate containers for different items, so make sure you’ve sorted them before your visit to save time.
You can bring:
All other construction waste is considered commercial waste and is not accepted at the recycling centre.
If you have a large amount of DIY waste to dispose of, consider hiring a skip or paying a registered waste carrier to remove it for you and dispose of it at a licensed facility.
This includes:
You can book a collection for some kinds of hazardous waste.
We cannot accept commercial waste or trade waste. This includes waste from:
Large and heavy vehicles cannot use the site, including vehicles:
You can only visit once during your booked slot.
The last entry for cars and vans is 15 minutes before closing.
The recycling centre is open:
You may be asked for proof that you live in Kingston, so bring proof of address like your driving licence or a recent Council Tax bill.
Use the link in your booking confirmation email to amend or cancel a booking. If you do not and you miss your slot, the visit will be counted in your allowance for the year.
Reusing items is better for the environment than recycling them because it doesn’t require the energy or processing that recycling does. But finding your preloved items a new home can be tricky.
At Villiers Road Household Reuse and Recycling Centre, we not only help you recycle, but help you reuse too.
Residents are encouraged to donate items in clean, reusable condition to the reuse drop-off point. These items will then be taken to Community Reuse Shops in neighbouring South London Waste Partnership boroughs and sold at a discounted rate to residents and visitors.
We accept all items in good condition, but don’t forget that you can also donate items to your local charity shop or share them with your neighbours using Freegle.
